“The present is a gift and I just want to be” - Common
This is one of my favorite intros for an album ever. When I made this video, I was in deep thought. I was avoiding the death footage that kept circulating on my feed of George Floyd. Capturing my daughter’s innocence and joy was a way of expressing what all parents want for their children… the feeling of freedom and happiness. Instead of indulging into the footage that sparked outrage, I chose to create something different, something I felt embodied the opposite of what the country was engulfed in at the time.
